Writing Practice

books by Kate Blocher

Etsy Strikes Again

When I was in the fifth grade, my teacher told us to bring a notebook to use as a journal. We took fifteen minutes out of each day to write whatever we pleased, ignoring grammatical errors. There was no specific instruction, just quiet writing.

At the end of the session, she would collect them all and read them. The only comments she ever made were "good job" or "keep it up" so that we were encouraged to write more. Once, she did single me out and ask me to read aloud. That was a moment of immense pride.

I try to encourage my little ones to write something each day, even if it is just simple numbers or letters, although most of the time they prefer to color.

And There Goes Number Two

This morning my middle daughter knocked out the other loose tooth that my oldest had. It was next to the last one so the space is just a bit bigger now. Lol, I hope this is not a trend.

Growing Up

Maryam Smiles

I can remember when my oldest was just a little baby. She was the loudest baby that I have ever heard and she cried a lot! Every time my mother would call, she could hear her crying in the background, lol. As a newborn, she hated baths and would nurse almost non-stop.

hey there

It seems such a long time ago because she is pretty mature for a five year old and I sometimes forget that she's still so young. I love that she is a great help to me and so eager to learn.

Rockin' It

We've been adjusting our schedule around here because my mother-in-law lives on the other side of town now so I am shuffling between homeschool, toddlers and babies.

Playing with Brother's Truck

Still, things aren't as difficult as I thought they would be since my oldest helps her mom a lot. She is becoming such a big girl and to prove it, she's lost her first tooth! How time flies.

Last Science Centre Pictures

Here are some more pictures from the Ontario Science Centre. As you can see, even my mother-in-law participated in the fun. If you're in Ontario, I hope that you're taking advantage of the program. We just got some more free tickets this past weekend. You must get to the library early!
